Nebraska Association of Home
and Community Health Agencies (NAHCHA)

Value of Membership

The Nebraska Association of Home and Community Health Agencies’ (NAHCHA) mission is to provide a unified commitment to impact quality and growth in home care through education, networking and support to the membership.

Methods of Quality Patient Care: Nebraska home health agencies are committed to providing quality patient care.  NAHCHA provides continuing education and support to help its member agencies foster high standards of quality patient care in community and home health services.  Whether your agency provides skilled nursing or home health aides – or whether it serves Medicare, Medicaid, commercial insurance or private pay – it is sure to face similar issues that affect all home care agencies.  As the voice for Nebraska home care, NAHCHA has the power and leverage to influence the issues that affect your agency or business.

Advocacy: NAHCHA advocates for its members’ interests and strives to positively influence public policy efforts on behalf of members at the local, state and federal levels.  Through NAHCHA’s lobbyist and the Government Affairs/Reimbursement Committee’s work, NAHCHA members are kept informed of legislative updates.  NAHCHA offers grassroots training to members on how to be proactive in addressing legislative issues that impact the home healthcare industry, and how to build relationships with lawmakers.  Representatives testify on behalf of the NAHCHA membership at state legislative committee hearings regarding issues that impact the home care industry in the state of Nebraska.

Regulatory Issues: NAHCHA works closely with its members to be proactive in addressing regulatory issues that impact Nebraska’s home health agencies.  NAHCHA’s Medicaid Task Group works to address and resolve common concerns impacting the home health industry, NAHCHA members, and Nebraska Medicaid clients served by home health agencies, identifies possible solutions and offers recommendations to the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS).  The task group also regularly discusses changes in regulations and processes that affect home health care and offers constructive comments to the Department.

Communications and Networking: Members are provided with timely and useful information regarding the most recent developments in home care.  The website is designed to be an effective tool for members to access and share current and relevant information for the home healthcare industry.  Members can share ideas, best practices and solutions to challenges that impact their agencies or businesses through the website and electronic communications.  NAHCHA alerts members when regulatory or legislative issues arise, and collect information from member agencies in order to better inform and educate legislators, regulators, the media, consumers and other stakeholders.  Members also receive four issues of NewsPulse, NAHCHA’s quarterly newsletter, in order to increase involvement and awareness of programs and services, in order to maximize the value of NAHCHA membership.Home care encompasses a range of health and social services that are delivered at home to recovering, disabled, chronically or terminally ill persons in need of medical, nursing, social or therapeutic treatment and/or assistance with the essential activities of daily living. Home care allows an individual to maintain or regain independence through skilled nursing, aid and therapy services.

Community Outreach and Public Relations Activities: NAHCHA members participate in consumer awareness activities such as:

  • Providing speakers for organizations, groups or businesses that are interested in learning more about home health services.
  • Assistance in locating home and community health service providers in your area.
  • Information regarding home health care questions, complaints or concerns.
  • Consultation for the establishment and/or the development of home and community health services in the state of Nebraska.

Continuing Education: NAHCHA strives to advance the professional development of members and help members enhance their skills and the services provided to their clients.  Continuing education contact hours are provided at NAHCHA events.  The association partners with speakers to offer topics that meet the needs of a variety of audiences including home healthcare directors, nurses, therapists, aides and billing professionals.  Educational programs focus on clinical, regulatory, legislative and/or business-related topics.  Members can participate in teleconferences, as well as statewide conferences.  NAHCHA partners with Nebraska hospitals to host educational events through their telehealth network.
